Bright Ideas.
Built into Appsusually.

iOS, Android and web. Every product on this page started as our own idea, and stayed that way from first sketch through to launch.

Vantoro started the way most of our apps do: we were peeling an onion and had an idea for a totally unrelated game.

We're a quirky studio that builds and publishes our own apps. We build what we want to use ourselves first, so our focus generally stays close to home. Every product starts as something we wanted to exist, then gets built properly and put in front of people.

01

Self-directed

Every idea starts with us and stays with us. We choose what to build, shape it exactly how we want, and see it through from first sketch to App Store, all on our own terms.

02

Quirks are features

We build for the joy of it, following our own quirks wherever they lead and letting our personality shape every app we make.

03

Loved for life

We love what we do, and it shows. Our apps are like our pets, cared for, maintained and steadily improved.

Do you take on outside projects?

Our focus usually stays with our own apps, and our studio is scheduled to deliver a number of releases over the next 18 months. But never say never, we are open for discussion if something genuinely interesting comes along.

Who built your website?

We built it ourselves! Whilst apps are our main focus, we can rustle up websites quite quickly once the brief is agreed, so reach out if you'd like to talk.

How long does it take to build a mobile app?

A basic app may take a few months, while complex platforms can require six to twelve months or longer. The timeline depends on the features, design rounds, testing, remedial work, more testing, and this is after all the user interface design and user stories have been created. There is a lot that goes into it!

What should I do if I have an idea for an app?

Start by sketching out what you want, screen by screen, so anyone reading it can picture how someone would actually move through the app. Writing it as user stories helps too, for example "as a user, I want to book a table so that I don't have to queue." It's also worth checking whether a similar app already exists from a reputable company. If it does, that's not a dead end, it just means you'll want a clear sense of what you'd do differently.

Do you offer ongoing support after an app launches?

Always. An app doesn't stop needing us the day it goes live, if anything that's when the real work starts. We keep an eye on crash reports, respond to store reviews, patch things following an OS version update, and we aim to keep adding small improvements based on what people actually use. Think of it less like a one-off build and more like an ongoing relationship, the same way you'd look after a pet rather than just buying one and leaving it in the garden.

What platforms do you build for?

iOS, Android and web, depending on what the app actually needs rather than building everywhere just because we can. Some ideas make more sense as a proper native app, others work better as something people can just open in a browser. For our own apps we tend to launch on mobile first and expand from there.

How much does an app cost?

Honestly, it depends, and anyone who gives you a fixed number without knowing what you want is probably guessing. Cost is driven by how many screens there are, how complex the features are, whether it needs to talk to other systems, and how much design and testing it needs before it's ready for the store.

Can I white-label or licence one of your existing apps?

Not something we've done before, and it's not really the plan, our apps are built to be ours, quirks and all. That said, we're not going to rule anything out completely. If you've got a genuinely interesting proposal, get in touch and we'll hear you out, though we can't promise more than that upfront.

What does "quirky" actually mean here?

Expect the odd unusual naming choice, the odd hidden detail, and apps with a bit of personality baked in. Speaking of which, have a look at the names of our launched apps, there's a word hiding in one of them that does something if you type it while you're on this site.
